Cultural Tours - Cultural and Historical Delights of the Aegean Region

Cultural and Historical Delights of the Aegean Region

On the map it seems so far away but in reality you take a flight to Izmir and you find yourself in the diverse landscape of the Aegean region.

Along the trip not only you will find the life of today’s Turkish people and their experiences, you will be able to travel back into the history as far as 3000 years. You will experience the mosaic of ancient life and its footsteps to today’s modern Turkey.
On arrival to Turkey rather then going to the beachside to stay in a luxury hotel, the trip will take you into the cultural and historical heart of the Aegean region. Besides finding out the rich cultural life and amazing nature, you will be able to travel back into the history which will give you the chance to see how much you are still using the habits and the lifestyle of those people who lived on this very land so many centuries ago.

Day 1: Hoþ Geldiniz!

Arrival at Izmir International Airport, where you will be met by your guide. From the airport we drive to Kemalpaþa to enjoy the beautiful countryside and have a first taste of the Turkish culture. We arrive at Sardis and visit the ancient city of Lydia where the famous king Croisos ruled. We have lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon we travel to Pamukkale which is famous for calcium terraces. We stay overnight in a hotel in Pamukkale.

Day 2: Hierapolis and Aphrodisias.

Close to Pamukkale is the ancient city of Hierapolis situated, built by the Kingdom of Pergamon which was a Roman establishment. Also we admire the calcium terraces and enjoy a swim in Cleopatra’s pool. After Pamukkale we drive to the ancient city of Aphrodisias, Goddess of Beauty, probably one of the most beautiful ancient sights in Turkey. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. Late in the afternoon we drive to Selcuk where we stay the night in a hotel.

Day 3: Odemis – Tire.

Today we visit Odemis, one of the bigger towns in Izmir area, where we explore the local market with all its colorful goods and handicrafts. After the market we drive through the beautiful landscape to Tire where we have lunch at a local restaurant with a panoramic view. Of course there will be time to discover Tire, a very well preserved Turkish town. Later in the afternoon we turn back to Selcuk where we stay the night in a hotel.

Day 4: Ephesus.

Ephesus................. one of the 7 wonders of the Ancient World. A famous and therefore a touristic sight but none the less very much worth visiting. Discover Roman baths, the Grand theatre, Odeon, Temple of Artemis, the Celcus Library and of course the house of the Virgin Mary. Lunch is served in a local restaurant and after lunch we drive to Izmir. If you like you can do some shopping. Our guide will be very happy to tell you which are the best places to go. We stay the night in a hotel in Izmir.

Day 5: Izmir.

Not only for shopping Izmir is very enjoyable but it boasts some interesting historical places too like the castle and the Roman Agora. Lunch is served in a local restaurant. We take the ferry across the bay to have a look in the city of Karþýyaka which belongs to Izmir but has very much its own character.
